Dos & Don'ts in Singapore

Do

Do always carry sufficient business cards when meeting Singaporean trade partners.

Do use your right hand when dining and/or passing something to Malays and Indians.

Do try to pick up some Singlish for a better bargain.

Do try the local Chinese, Malay and Indian cuisines.

Don’t

Do not talk about politics and religion unless invited to by your partners and friends. This can turn into a sensitive issue.

Do not point at someone with the fore finger as it is considered rude.

Do not litter and be aware that smoking is forbidden in many public places.

Do not expect chewing gum to be sold in Singapore. The importing and sale of gum is illegal, but it is perfectly legal to chew gum!
