End the year with a bang – literally – at the climax of the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown.
At the stroke of midnight, the eight-minute fireworks display lights up Singapore’s iconic downtown skyline. It is the highlight of the year and suitably explosive.
But there are contemplative moments during the excitement too. Notice the big white orbs on the water? These are part of The Wishing Sphere Project on which you can write and express your wishes, hopes and dreams for the year ahead.
Grab a marker and make your wish at any of the 30 wishing stations all over the island, which are set up from mid-November. If you can’t be there in person, you can be there in spirit, by penning your wishes online on virtual wishing spheres.
This year, 20,000 wishing spheres will be lit up and set afloat, transforming the bay into an eye-catching visual arts showcase. (From Singapore Tourism Board website)
