With only the best in women’s golf invited to grace the greens and a slew of local and international acts at its six-hour-long music showcase, HSBC Women’s Champions 2017 (HWC) showed everyone a swinging good time. Held from 2 to 5 March 2017 at Sentosa Golf Club, the tournament, often dubbed “Asia’s Major” for the quality of the play, drew 19 of the world’s top 20 players, cementing Singapore’s reputation as a year-round hub for top-notch sporting events.
World-class golf aside, the HWC is also known for its celebration of food and music—think pop-up food stalls and a slew of music acts from the world over. DJ veterans Bounce Squad revved up the crowds, New York band Thirdstory delivered lush harmonies, and the audience went wild as Korean actor-singer Lee Joon Gi took to the stage with his debut performance in Singapore. Local acts were not to be outshone either—R&B crooner Gentle Bones and pop duo Jack & Rai delivered heartfelt performances that the crowd lapped up.
For the competition’s next edition, in 2018, fans can expect yet more world-class golf—and entertainment.
